Social Engineering is a branch of research upgrades that appear in Watch Dogs 2, that allows for the manipulation of police and gangs, as well as increasing the capabilities of the Profiler.

The Skills in this branch include:
- Create Distraction: sends a signal to phones or enemies headset to cause a distraction, allowing you to do a sneak attack them or sneak by.
- Level 1 Gang: Gang Attack: Assigns two lightly armed gang members to assassinate a target. Usually two gunmen.
- Level 2 Gang: Gang Skirmish: Assigns two well-armed gang members to assassinate a target. Usually one Enforcer and one Elite or just two Elites.
- Level 3 Gang: Gang War: Assigns two heavily armed and armored gang members to assassinate a target. Always two Enforcers.
- Level 1 Police: APB: Suspect Located: A squad car will be dispatched after a framed target. Officers will often be armored.
- Level 2 Police: APB: Wanted Criminal: A SWAT truck will be dispatched after a framed target. Officers are often Elites or Enforcers.
- Improved Profiler: allows you to hack large bank accounts and auto-marks large bank accounts
- Massive Communication Disruption: triggers all distraction in the area and simultaneously cancel 911 and reinforcement calls
- Botnet Savings: Personal Devices: reduces botnet costs when hacking people.
