For the vehicle manufacturer of the same name, see Talos (manufacturer).
An ideal car for soccer moms and soccer dads.
―In-game Description in Watch Dogs.

The Talos is a four-door crossover SUV that appears in Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2. It is manufactured by Centaurus in Watch Dogs and by Brubeck Engines in Watch Dogs 2.

Design[]

The Talos is heavily based on the first generation Ford Edge, as seen on the greenhouse area and the main body section, the front and rear fascia were taken from the first generation Range Rover Evoque, while the front bumper may have been inspired by the facelifted 2011-2013 BMW X5 (E70).

The car has a front face whose upper half is dominated by a connected grille and headlights, it features two-step headlights with xenon lamps and then a grille which appears as a third step in the formation. The grille is made up of horizontal strips and edges which are all chrome. The front bumper has a wide, shallow duct a short distance beneath the grille.

The main body of the car is fairly simple and flat but does include a bulge towards the lower edge of the body. The body also includes flared wheel arches. The B and C-pillars of the car are covered with a black polymer while the A and D pillars are metal and body colored. The side windows are complete with chrome trim. The upper edge of the rearmost window is slightly below the upper edge of the other side windows. Two glass panoramic moon roofs are featured on the roof. The vehicle features split five-spoke alloy wheels, which by default are painted silver. This car also features illuminated mirrors, mounted just behind the A pillar.

The rear end of the car features small rear lights with a small downward step towards the center. There is a small roof-mounted spoiler attached to the rear of the car. Beneath the rear windscreen the manufacturer name is visible in the center. The license plate is mounted in the center of the impressed area between the rear lights. The rear bumper is made from two materials, the upper half being metal and the lower half being made from a polymer. The lower area of the rear bumper appears to have extra lighting that sits above each exhaust tip.

Performance[]

Civilian Variant[]

The Talos features large, high-ventilation brake rotors which are mated to fairly small, black brake calipers. Although performs averagely well, its top speed will not be best for a SUV, due to its front wheel drive. The civilian Talos sports a transversely-mounted single-cam V6 engine, coupled to a 5-speed gearbox in a front engine, front wheel drive layout.

Police Variant[]

Unlike the civilian variant, the police variant in Watch Dogs 2 is all-wheel drive, making it far more desirable for general performance than the civilian version, as it excels both off and on road. The vehicle appears at Heat Levels 3 and up, and is not as easy to outrun as the the Police MRAPs; despite this, the Talos will often rubberband to catch the player regardless. Durability is exceptional- The Police Talos is one of the toughest vehicles in the game, being able to resist many serious collisions and sustained gunfire, and police often go for head-on collisions in order to stop the player. Police Elites in the passenger seats will fire upon the player with Goblins at Heat level 5.

Variants[]

  • Club Talos: Chicago South Club members uses a special variant of the Talos. It is de-badged and has a black paint job, green-tinted headlights and custom rims styled after a Celtic Knot, which is also the Club's symbol.
  • DeMarco's Talos: Joseph DeMarco owns a unique version of the Talos. It has a white paint job with black window trim and wheels.
  • Police Talos: In Watch Dogs 2, the SFPD and OPD employs modified Talos for police purposes, having the typical red/white/blue emergency lights, sirens and door-mounted spotlights. This variant has the standard black and white paint scheme and SFPD or OPD emblems on the sides.

Locations[]

Watch Dogs[]

Watch Dogs 2[]

  • The Civilian Talos can be purchased from Total Motors car dealership for $15,000.
  • Common in traffic, particularly in and around Downtown SF.
  • The Police Talos may be deployed at higher Heat levels, from three dots and above.
  • The Police Talos may be parked at certain police stations:

SFPD Variant[]

  • One (sometimes two) can be found parked at the Transbay Transit Center Police Station, in an elevated parking area at the foot of the complex, along with Cruisers. This area is not restricted, making this vehicle easily obtainable, especially for bounty hunts.
  • Parked at the Mission Dolores Police Station, along with Cruisers/MRAPs. These are in a restricted area, and are fairly inconvenient to steal.
  • Parked at the Stanford University Police/Fire Station, along with Cruisers/MRAPs. These are in a restricted area, and are fairly inconvenient to steal.
  • May respond with two Elites when framing an NPC.
  • May respond to violent crimes committed by NPCs.

OPD Variant[]

  • May respond with two Elites when framing an NPC.
  • May respond to violent crimes committed by NPCs.

Trivia[]

  • In Watch Dogs, the Talos is the only car to have 5 taillights, making a star shape formation. However in the second game, the bottom taillights are replaced with reverse lights.
  • In the beta version of the original Watch Dogs, as seen on the E3 Gameplay Demo, the Talos had "Centaurus" stencils that is located above the front grille and below the rear windscreen, in a similar way to modern Land Rover models. This was since then removed in the final version, to have the stencils removed and replaced with central manufacturer logos.
  • Despite being based on the Ford Edge, in Watch Dogs 2, there's a police version of the Talos, which is very odd as the Edge was never served nor sold for the law enforcement in real-life. It might be a reference to the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, a law enforcement variant of the mid-size Explorer.
  • The Talos also appears in Ubisoft Ivory Tower's The Crew and The Crew 2 as an undriveable traffic vehicle.
