Disrupt is a game engine developed by Ubisoft Montreal for Watch Dogs, by using dynamic simulation to simulate physical interactions realistically and seamless online connectivity. The engine was created to allow for cross-generation and cross-platform play.[1]

Technology

The engine uses DirectX 9 and DirectX 11. It has the ability to dynamically simulate particles and clutter, that are affected by wind. Disrupt also simulates electricity, allowing the players to cause city-wide blackouts, that turn off the power in the entire city.
